Momella Wildlife Lodge: Living the Life with the Wildlife
One of the most noted places to stay in when in Tanzania is the Momella Wildlife Lodge. Besides the fact that it is conveniently located near the Arusha National Park, it also has excellent facilities to boast of.
The Arusha National Park in Tanzania is a small park; nonetheless, its awesomeness cannot be denied. It covers Mt. Meru, the second highest mountain next to Mt. Kilimanjaro. Actually, it stands just by the lower slopes in between both mountains.
Other distinct sceneries in the area are the Momella Lakes, Highland forest, and the Ngurdoto crater. The Momella lakes are home to many water birds like the flamingos and the Egyptian goose. Canoeing safari is one popular activity in this area. Ancient cedar trees can be found in the Highland forest; beautiful birds—like the bushbuck—also live in this part of the park. The Ngurdoto crater, or the ngorongoro, is a deep crater where many of the buffalos, black and white Colobus monkeys, and the blue monkeys dwell.
In addition, the Arusha National Park has quite the assortment of wildlife species, such as the buffalos, hippopotamus, flamingos, giraffes, warthogs, blue monkeys, and a lot more.
Being as it is close to such an interesting environment, tourists would no longer have to worry of going any farther, thus, avoiding the experience of going through long rides and waiting long hours. Even from the balcony, they can observe the wildlife. In fact, sightings of monkeys and exotic birds are rather frequent in the area.
Momella Wildlife Lodge offers alluring accommodations for any traveler seeking comfort in the wildlife. They have at least 50 rendezvous huts in the area, each one as stylish and comfortable as the next. They can either be the separate bungalow type with a porch or the smaller round thatched roof type. These huts have hot and cold showers installed in them; the fixtures—toilet, bed, etc.—are also in line with the standards of general guesthouse management. They also have facilities available for small events and even big time proceedings, from business meetings to grand celebrations. There are also entertainment establishments in the area: a swimming pool, a bar, and a wide lounge. These establishments are located near the lodge’s lavish garden area. Night events are also held to entertain the guests during long evenings.
John Wayne, Hardy Krueger, and Elsa Martinelli, stars of the 60’s film “Hatari,” stayed in the Momella Wildlife Lodge during the time they took the shoot. The mere fact that these stars had chosen to stay in the lodge for quite some time serves enough proof that the place in itself is a pleasant one to stay in.
The Momella Wildlife Lodge is commendable for mountain-hikers interested in taking on Mt. Meru; for honeymooners or any couple who want to spend a good time together; for wild animal enthusiasts or nature-lovers; for simple people who wish to have a glimpse of the wildlife and its precious beauty; or for people who want to just take a break and experience a different profound setting.
